TRAVEL LANE COUNTY Architect: Richard Shugar, AIA, LEED AP Co-Designer: Oslund Design Project Manager: Jenna Fribley, AIA, LEED AP General Contractor: Essex General Construction Completed 2010 Springfield, Oregon 2,000 sf Commercial Remodel For their newest visitor information center, Travel Lane County wanted to create a space that embodied all that Lane County Oregon has to offer. 2fORM Architecture, in collaboration with Oslund Design Incorporated, aimed to build an environment that was more than a glorified information kiosk, but was in fact the beginning of an adventure in and of itself. To that end, the outside was brought indoors. The final space features water, rocks, and grand scale images by photographer Tim Clancy of the Oregon dunes, the Cascades and old growth forests. 2fORM Architecture and Oslund Design worked carefully together to implement appropriate branding, color palette, and imagery of the new visitor center, to ensure that Travel Lane County maximize the space’s potential. The allocation of space allows for flexible and visual merchandising, ample literature storage and display, and comfortable areas where visitors can read and research. The final result would not have been possible without generous contributions from McKenzie River Drift Boats, Lane Forest Products, and Willamette Pass Resort.
