Currently under construction, the remodel of the commercial building on the corner of 6th and Willamette for Pacific Northwest Publishing has been a fascinating project. The business is an educational materials production facility that produces a variety of products, including video and print materials. Their requirements included full video production facilities that comprise a stage, sound equipment and lighting equipment. In addition, there are offices and meeting rooms, a printing and work room, shipping and warehouse spaces and server and storage rooms.
The entire shell was gutted down to the studs and rebuilt with new mechanical and electrical systems. We redesigned the exterior façade of the building, updating it to reflect the new use, and to allow more light into the offices while still maintaining a sense of privacy inside.
