Richard Shugar

Richard Shugar has devoted his 17-year career to the exploration of innovative design solutions, capturing the connection between people and their environment. His sensitive and intuitive style enables him to create uniquely crafted solutions meeting clients’ programmatic needs. His commitment to listening intently to what his clients say enables him to quickly establish a rapport with them.

Richard has experience working with institutional organizations such as the University of Oregon, Lane Community College and the Veterans Administration. His experience includes commercial buildings, multi-family housing, custom residences, medical facilities, interior design and historic preservation.

Richard’s enthusiasm for how the built environment impacts our quality of life is evident in his many contributions and affiliations within the community. In addition to being a past president of the local AIA chapter, Richard is currently an adjunct associate professor at the University of Oregon, and has served in that capacity from 1999 to 2003 and again in 2009.
